On Friday 12/07/2019 representatives of universities in China and Russia visited Omikron SA in order to get to know the staff and to be informed about its activities. The visit was part of the project «GIS and Remote Sensing for Sustainable Forestry and Ecology, SUFOGIS» initiative of the Coordinator of the project, the Laboratory of Forest Management and Remote Sensing Department of Forestry and Natural Environment of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with scientific responsible Prof. John Gitas
Professors and researchers specializing in Forestry, Natural Environment and Earth Observation data represent the following institutions of China and Russia: Volga State University of Technology (Volga Tech University), Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Science (IKI), Bashkir State Agrarian University (BSAU), Zhejiang University (ZJU). Professor John Gitas (AUTH) and Ms. Hara Minakou (MSc, AUTH) were also present at the visit.
Omikron was selected by their project managers as one of the most well-known media in Greece, given its long-standing and successful track record in advanced environmental services. During the visit, Chinese and Russian scientists had the opportunity to get acquainted with the company's premises, chat with staff, and learn about some of the company's current projects. The meeting was crowned with success and ended with the promise of future collaborations.
