New Contract Supervision Consultant Ministry of Environment and Climate Change / Division of Environmental Planning

OMIKRON SA undertook, following a request for tenders from the Department of Environmental Management of the Department of Environmental Planning (Directorate General of the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change) in collaboration with other companies, the implementation of the project entitled “Horizontal technical and scientific coordination of surveillance and assessment studies of the conservation status of species and habitats in Greece and synthetic assessment of results”.

The contract was signed on 02-01-2014 with the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change and the project duration is 26 months with a budget of 900.000 €. The company is responsible for 33% of the project's implementation.

The project is implemented as a response to the obligations deriving from Directives 92/43 / EEC and 2009/147 / EC. The implementation will help strengthen the environmental protection of habitat types and species of Community interest, both at national and European level.

The company has undertaken the following:

1. The processing and mapping of spatial information and the development of databases for: (a) the monitoring and assessment of conservation status data that will result from the Supervision Projects of habitat types and species of flora and fauna, (b) Monitoring of the entire range of literature data. The specialized databases developed by our company are following the obligations deriving from Directives 92/43 / EEC and 2009/147 / EC, as well as the INSPIRE Directive, and have been designed in constant collaboration with the Managing Authority and the involved partners.

2. The assessment, coordination and counseling on scientific and technical issues related to the eight individual thematic surveillance programs of species and flora and fauna species being carried out in Greece. Also, the company will provide scientific documentation and specialized issues regarding those thematic programs.
